White oak is the wood coopers trusted with whiskey and shipwrights trusted with hulls, and this large white oak end grain cutting board — 20 x 14.5 inches, 2.25 inches thick — brings that same weatherproof character to your counter. Its honey-gold surface carries a ray fleck you won't find in any other hardwood, and it deepens with every year of use. Milled from redeemed hardwood in our family cabinet shop in Grabill, Indiana, where offcuts too beautiful for the scrap pile get a second life.
Naturally water-resistant. White oak's pores are sealed by tyloses — microscopic plugs that stop water moving through the grain. It's the reason oak barrels hold liquid for decades, and why this board shrugs off the wet work that warps lesser wood.
Self-healing end grain. The fibers stand vertically, so your knife parts them instead of severing them. Cut marks close back up, the surface stays smooth, and your edge stays sharp far longer than on edge grain or plastic.
Routed juice groove. A deep channel catches the runoff from a brisket, a prime rib, or a counter full of tomatoes before it reaches your countertop.
Rubber feet and finger grips. Removable feet steady the block and lift it for airflow while it dries. Carved grips make 2.25 inches of solid oak easy to move from kitchen to table.
Handcrafted in Indiana. Milled, glued, flattened, and finished with food-safe oil in our own shop — American white oak, selected by hand, one board at a time.
Hand wash, oil every few weeks, and this board will outlast nearly everything else in your kitchen. The kind of thing that gets handed down rather than replaced.
